Do Indian travellers need a Vietnam visa?

The Embassy of India in Hanoi advises Indian nationals travelling to Vietnam to have a preapproved visa. It directs visitors to Vietnam’s embassy or consulate in India, or the official Vietnamese e-visa portal. This guide concerns an ordinary holiday enquiry; special circumstances should be checked with the relevant authority.

The official portal is evisa.gov.vn. Check requirements for your nationality, passport and route directly before applying. A package quotation, hotel reservation or flight ticket is not itself a visa approval. Information here was reviewed on 16 October 2026; official requirements can change.

Published e-visa fees and entry type

Vietnam’s Immigration Department portal lists USD 25 for a single-entry e-visa and USD 50 for multiple entry, with a maximum validity of 90 days. The application fee is non-refundable if a visa is not granted. Check the current amount on the official portal before payment.

These are government fees in USD, not a fixed INR total or a Tripsidekick service charge. Confirm which entry type and validity your itinerary requires. Leaving Vietnam and returning is a different travel plan from remaining within Vietnam throughout the holiday.

Use the official application and track the result

The portal describes three stages: complete the application accurately, pay the application fee and receive the result online. Follow its current instructions for documents, photographs and required fields. We do not promise an approval date or assume that payment means approval.

Keep your application reference and use the official tracking process. If an agent helps with an application, still ask how you will receive and check the final visa. Do not send passport scans or payment-card details in an initial travel enquiry.

Check the approved visa before departure

The Indian embassy asks travellers to verify that visa details agree with their passport and travel plans, and to correct discrepancies before arrival. Review the approved document carefully rather than relying only on a message saying it has been issued.

Confirm your intended entry and exit points against the permitted border gates and the approved document. The validity period and permitted stay need to fit the actual journey, including any changes to flight dates.

YOUR SIDEKICK CHECKLIST
  • Name and passport details match the travel document
  • Approved validity covers the intended travel dates
  • Entry type fits any planned departure and return
  • Entry and exit points are permitted for the visa
  • Any error has been resolved with the issuing authority before travel

Keep the visa separate from package assumptions

Some Tripsidekick route notes refer to visa arrangements that need reconfirmation; others require a separate quote. Ask whether your own proposal includes assistance, the government fee or neither. A starting package price does not settle that question.

For eligibility questions, errors or unusual circumstances, contact Vietnam’s embassy, consulate or Immigration Department using the official links below. Tripsidekick’s planning conversation can collect your travel brief, but it does not replace an immigration decision.
